    Implant Retained Dentures

For almost half a century dental implants have provided a long-term solution to the problem of missing teeth. Scientifically tested and researched, dental implants have been a real success story in dentistry. Using Dental implants we can secure your dentures (full and partial dentures) firmly.

The dental implants will be placed into the jaw bone and once these have bonded to the bone, attachments can be placed on top to fix your dentures securely into the jaw. You can confidently talk and eat with almost the same effectiveness as your natural teeth. Implant retained dentures will feel more like a natural part of your body. The denture can still be removed for cleaning and sleeping.

    1. The sockets are prepared and the titanium implant screws placed into the jawbone. One of the aims during the placement of the implant is to achieve immediate close contact with the surrounding bone to allow the bone to grow onto the implant and later provide a strong anchor for the dentures. Geistlich Bio-Oss® will be used (when required) to aid bone regeneration. This first surgical procedure is done under intravenous sedation. Once the gum has healed over, the top of the implant will sit just below the gum surface. During the following three to six months the bone in the jaw will bond with the implant.
    2. The second procedure is to uncover the top of the implants and attach small connecting components. These connecting components will hold the dentures in place. Mouldings will be made so that the dentures fit your mouth perfectly and the artificial teeth look natural. The denture has a fitting which houses the clasps that fix onto the implant, holding it securely and firmly in place.

The denture can still be removed for cleaning and sleeping but at all other times, nobody will know that they aren't your natural teeth.
